The 519 Older LGBT2S Adults Program Presents “Queer-o-ween” Costume Party

TORONTO, October 2020 – Toronto-based non-profit The 519 (located at 519 Church St) is hosting a socially-distanced “Queer-o-ween” costume party on October 27th between 2:30pm and 5:00pm for Older Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, 2-Spirit (LGBT2S) Adults.

To celebrate the spooky season, there will be a socially-distanced dance, funky music, a costume runway, and a photobooth. Party attendees can also expect treats, prizes, and lots of fun!

The 519 encourages older adults facing social isolation to attend their Halloween event, as these uncertain times have shown us it is more important than ever to stay connected with one another. Social isolation is already prevalent in older adults (including members of the LGBT2S community) and the “Queer-o-ween” Costume Party is the perfect event for any older adult to get out there and enjoy themselves.

“Older adults face a lot of social isolation, and there are few spaces or opportunities where they can safely express and be their authentic selves. … Our programs for older LGBT2S adults offer a place for communities to connect in an affirming environment, socialize with their peers, develop inter-generational connections, learn new life skills and share a meal together,” explains Moji Shirazi, LGBT2S Seniors Program Assistant.

While the Older LGBT2S Adults Program caters to the LGBT2S community, everyone is welcome regardless of gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. The 519 hopes people will join them for an afternoon of fun.

“We really encourage everyone to attend,” Shirazi says. “This year’s “Queer-o-ween” Costume Party is sure to be a great time!”

Due to COVID-19, registration is required and on a first-come first-serve basis! The Eventbrite registration link is as follows: For any other questions or concerns, contact Moji at
